Eretz HaTzvi's success springs from our proud Centrist Orthodox Hashkah. Our warm, nuturing environment fosters a love of Torah and Klal Yisrael. We emphasize the importance of Zionism and the State of Israel. We pride ourselves on being sensitive to the individual issues which students often face in their maturation process undergone in Israel and which they will encounter emotionally and religiously in their subsequent university years.
|
||
| The curriculum
places a major emphasis on teaching the skills that will enable the student
to become independent in his studies. The topics chosen are well rounded
and reflect the philosophy of the yeshiva. In addition to Gemara,
Limud Tanach, Halacha, Machshava, and leadership development figure prominently.

The core
Gemara program focuses on developing the textual and analytic skills necessary
for the mastery of a sugya and independent learning. In addition, students
dicover how to research the actual halachic ramifications of the
sugya studied (aliba d'hilchata). Our students utilize the basic
methods of halachic research following the exploration of Rishonim and
Acharonim in the Halacha Berura method promulgated by the first Chief
Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook zt"l. Uniquely, our instruction includes
learning the research skills and tools necessary for access
to major reference works (often kept as secrets from students), including
the Halacha Berura edition of the masechta, as well as CD Rom and internet
databases (Bar Ilan, DBS, etc.). Our students leave feeling confident in their
new abilities to conquer Jewish texts and to lead others on the college campus
in the search for authentic Jewish meaning.

The Halacha
program is an innovative and unique one designed to highlight issues that
affect every observant Jew while the average person often has little or
no knowledge of their halachic dimensions. (This is sometimes especially
problematic for University students.) Issues to be considered deal with
practical halachic preparation for life on the campus and beyond. (Seminar
formats also allow for both the improvement of textual
skills as well as lend exposure to a broad range of Halachic sources.)
Issues covered include: Hilchot Bet Knesset / Mechitza, Sefer Torah and Minyan, Kashrut supervision for commercial products, Kashrut issues in the home and dorm kitchen, Business Ethics, Relations with Non - Jews, and the Jewish Life Cycle. Educational field trips, guest lecturers and Yimei Iyun serve as integral and actualizing components of the Halacha curriculum. to the top |

| Tanach
should not be an afterthought in Yeshiva study. We have one of the finest Tanach faculties
in Israel. The curriculum
infuses the students with a broad knowledge of Tanach and gives
them the tools to advance their own study in the future. We emphasize
the contextualization of Neviim and Ketuvim within the historical
period of Prophecy and its relevance to the student's personal issues
and religious behavior. It is not only a question of what the Navi was
saying to the people of Shomron or Jerusalem then - but what he is saying
to the individual student today.

Yeshiva should be an experience
that grants students the opportunity to have questions and issues addressed
honestly and seriously. Learning Machshava should not simply mean someone
talking at them. At Eretz HaTzvi we emphasize basic
topics through the prism of major texts - e.g. Rambam's Guide of the Perplexed, Kuzari,
works of the Maharal,
Tanya, Nefesh HaChayim, Musar, Hasidut, the works of Rav Kook and Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik.
Topics covered range from the ethical issues of interpersonal relations
to the meaning of prayer; from the philosophical and personal conundrums
of theodicy to the nature of personal integrity. In addition, our faculty
is always available for individual study of Machshava topics that often
arise in a campus setting and are of specific interest to particular students.

At Eretz
HaTzvi, we infuse the students with an appreciation of the
existence of Medinat Yisrael as an instance of Divine favor and grace
and as a challenge to which Jews must rise. We believe that the Jewish people's choice on how we embrace the State – from issues ranging from social justice to tolerance; from the Arab – Israeli conflict to Aliyah – is of critical importance and will be ones that students will face in their college years. These issues are confronted directly both formally in the curriculum and informally in chugim in a spirit of openness and tolerance for different viewpoints but always with passionate concern. to the top |

| Tiyulim - With a difference.... |
|||
|
|
|||
| In keeping
with our integrative approach, Eretz HaTzvi tiyulim are educational experiences
in addition to being opportunities to get to know Israel and explore modern
history. Tiyulim are integrated with studies in Talmud, Halacha, and
Tanach as well as Ahavat HaAretz. to the top |

Preparation for the College Campus |
|||
|
Eretz HaTzvi's curriculum prepares our students for the campus challenges he
will encounter. Philosophically, we view a serious grounding in Torah
as the best preparation for college; however, Torah must be articulated in concrete
forms as "basic training" for campus life. Eretz HaTzvi embraces a centrist Orthodox philosophy which places a positive value on a quality general education. The faculty is always prepared to discuss issues pertaining to the integration of Torah, secular knowledge, and modern cultural orientations. In specialized areas of concern, we call on a wide pool of Jerusalem scholars and educators ready to share their expertise and philosophy with the concerned college bound student. In addition, whenever possible, students will be matched to alumni guides from the Universities to which they have been accepted. Finally, tuition includes one return ticket and free tuition for a period of "recharging" study in Eretz HaTzvi at any time while still in University. to the top |

| A Window onto Israeli Society - | |||
| For a serious Religious Zionist Yeshiva program to thrive, it is of utmost importance for it to be associated with a yeshiva/kollel that is itself Israeli and serious. To that end, Eretz HaTzvi has entered into a partnership with Kollel Eretz Hemda to create a joint educational program. | |||
| The Yeshiva resides in the wonderful and centeral neighborhood of Katamon. This location allows for interaction with native Israelis. | |||
| The Yeshiva believes that
chesed in service to others is a critical facet of Torah study and and an
opportunity for integration into Israeli life. Students will be urged to
participate in a program in which they will "adopt" - and learn
from - an elderly person who is in need of a little company and basic help
in his home.

Externally, educational institutions are built of brick and mortar. But the soul of every Yeshiva is the faculty – and can only be measured by its credentials as talmidei chachamim and teachers; as people dedicated to the growth and personal welfare of each student. Our faculty includes:
|
|
Broadly educated, experienced educators equipped to handle the goals outlined. Most members of the faculty are veterans of the IDF. Many have vast experience in secular universities including graduate degrees.

||
High Faculty/student ratio.

The faculty is composed of members with a range of ages and backgrounds to allow for the members of the faculty to complement one another. Different personality types amongst the students need different types of teachers; and many students benefit from varied types to fulfill different needs.
